Isn't this the area of the world where horses actually came from originally? Are they all pretty short like this or are the people pretty tall?

there are native horses from mongolia, so yes i think this is one place in the world that horses do originally come from. They are called the 'takhi' or prezwelaski horse. they were actually reintroduced into mongolia as a pure breed in 1992 and at khustai national park you can go and see them.

all the horses in mongolia are very short, like the size of ponies in other countries. But as Mongolian people will point out, they may be small but they have incredible stamina and are well designed sturdy creatures for travelling over very long distances.

Mongolian people are quite short and stocky, in general - but they are taller and much more solid people than many other asian countries.
