More great pictures! I found you at "The Viscountesses" Postcards site and have returned to your site several times to enjoy the scenery. Would like to know more about how you you decided to go to Mongolia and about your life there.

Hi again! We are curious about the very colorful clothes the ladies are wearing. What are the fabrics, are the clothes sewn by the ladies or purchased (where) and are the bright colors dyed by them or purchased that way? Is this typical attire, or was there a special event they were attending? Thanks!

The ladies are all wearing their traditional deels. These are long coats made out a silky materials, which are ususally purchased at a market - some come from mongolia, some from china...you wear them with a long sash of silk wrapped around the waist. they are 'everyday' wear, but people also have their fancy deel. and usually a winter one too. the winter ones have a wool layer inside them. in the rural areas most people wear deels.

oh sorry i forgot to answer a bit.. for young people, your grandma ususally makes your deel - buying the materials from the local market. but i guess older women make their own.
